Web Design Process: Form Follows Function
At GreatCircle Studios we have found that form really does follow function. When creating any new Website, or redesigning an existing one, we first establish what is the function of the site. This web design process allows us to deliver not only a highly aesthetic website but one which delivers real and measurable results.
Regardless of the scope, our process starts with an analysis of the business with an emphasis on those audiences the website needs to serve. This is a key part of the service we provide. Before any discussions about layout, colour, and/or style we seek to understand your business objectives for the site. In order for us to help transform your site into a tool that supports your business we first have to understand your business.
In our initial interviews with you we answer such questions as:
- What is the purpose of the website, what is the tangible result that the website is supposed to produce for the business?
- What are the primary audiences [targeted customers] that the website needs to communicate to?
- What is the overall logical flow of the website?
With this clarified, we proceed into a visual design phase and creation of the first visual designs. The visual design includes any specialized page designs that may be required such as developing the user experience for a shopping cart. The process also includes search engine optimization work to improve your site's performance with the major search engines.
Pricing is based on the size of your site and the scope of work required to get the final product.
This unique approach allows for a free flow of ideas from our Marketing experts and designers and results in a targeted design concept and logical page navigation. The end result being a highly aesthetic website is visually appealing, easy to navigate, ranks well within the search engines, and produces real results from your business!
